Pumpkin spice latte (PSL) is undeniably a crowd favourite during fall and winter. It is one of Starbucks’ most popular seasonal beverages worldwide and it just landed in Starbucks Singapore last September.
Since Christmas is around the corner, wouldn’t it be nice if our dogs can enjoy a comforting cuppa pumpkin spice latte with us? It’s healthy and delicious. Well, their version that is – without all the sugar and cream.
Pumpkin is rich in fiber (Great for dogs with soft stools) and vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins A, C, and E, and iron. Cinnamon is reputed for its anti-inflammatory properties – beneficial for senior dogs with joint problems. It also helps prevent diabetes by regulating blood sugar. However, it’s not suitable for dogs with kidney issues.
Here’s a dog-friendly recipe for pumpkin spice latte your dog will love
What you’ll need:
1 cup goat’s milk
4 tbsp fresh or canned 100% pumpkin puree
1 tbsp cinnamon with a little more for topping
Optional topping: Yoghurt as whipped cream substitute, or a meat jerky stick
Steps:
- If using fresh pumpkin, chop it up into smaller pieces and steam until soft
- Put goat’s milk, pumpkin, and cinnamon into a blender and blend until smooth
- Pour into a serving cup and top with yoghurt and a stick of treat if desired
Tip: Pour any leftover PSL inside a container and keep refrigerated, up to 3 days.
