I remember that within the first week of bringing me home, mama told papa that she wanted someone to pay for my trips to the vet. I found that really strange. Why would anyone do that? And why doesn’t she just stop sending me to the vet? I don’t find it fun anyway. Humans, in general, seem to like to make simple things complicated.
Well, clearly I am missing something because someone actually started what mama calls, “Singapore’s first pet insurance policy” two weeks ago. According to her, someone would help pay for up to 70% of my vet bills and other events. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
PetCare by Liberty Insurance offers three different plans, to cater for different needs and budgets.
| Standard Plan | Enhanced Plan | Superior Plan | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual Premium | S$350 | S$450 | S$750 |
These premiums are applicable for both dogs and cats.
All-round comprehensive coverage
If there’s anything that stands out from Liberty PetCare’s offering, it’s that they have structured their benefits to give you coverage across most areas – accident, theft, medical (surgical & non-surgical), and third-party liability.

PetCare covers many areas, so is it the best?
Not necessarily. Like insurance for people, every pet insurer offers a different balance of benefits and coverage. PetCare might be the first pet insurance in Singapore, but it’s no longer the only one. There’s Happy Tails by AON, CIMB’s My Paw Pal, and AIA’s Paw Safe.
Happy Tails focuses on medical and surgical benefits, while CIMB’s My Paw Pal and AIA’s Paw Safe are primarily accident plans.
It’s important to think about what kind and level of coverage you need for your pet, and how much you would be able to afford to pay.

Hi Latte’s mom, there is another new insurance now by MSIG, called Happy Tails. Would love to hear your views about it, though it seems to me that the deductible seems rather high ><
Hi Rowan! Great minds think alike! I have been meaning to write a post on that but haven’t gone about doing it. Because of you, here it is!

I guess the deductible is a little high, so it’s more for major surgeries that cost $2,000 and upwards 🙂
